Memorial ribbon honoring James A. Garfield, who was assassinated during the first year of his presidency by Charles J. Guiteau in Washington D.C. on 2 July 1881. Ribbon features a bust portrait of Garfield and the inscription, ''We Morn [sic] Our Nation's Loss. / J. A. Garfield Died Sept. 19, 1881.'' Beige ribbon measures 2'' x 6''. Some fraying to edges and fabric loss, likely moth holes to the portrait, else good.
