Abraham Lincoln signs ''Abraham Lincoln'' as President during the last year of his life to a document dated posthumously 7 July 1864. Here, George A. Fiske, Jr. is appointed to the position of Additional Paymaster of Volunteers in the service of the United States. Partially printed document is countersigned by Edwin M. Stanton, Lincoln's Secretary of War. A blue War Office seal is affixed to the lower left. Measures 14'' x 20''. Attractively matted in a black wooden frame to an overall size of 22.75'' x 27''. Toning, creasing, and ink notations to upper left. Near fine. Frame is in fine condition.
