Bold and elegant signature by Abraham Lincoln, who additionally adds the words "Yours truly" above his signature "A. Lincoln." Signature appears on a slip measuring approximately 2.875" x 1", mounted to a page measuring 5" x 7.5", that also contains a note signed by William Cullen Bryant, the famous abolitionist and Editor of the "New-York Evening Post" who introduced Lincoln before his historic Cooper Union speech in New York City on 27 February 1860. In this speech Lincoln made his case against the expansion of slavery so effectively that it elevated his national profile ahead of the Republican Presidential convention, with some even saying that it clinched the nomination for him. Note by Bryant is dated 30 August 1859 and addressed to a Mr. C.W. Robinson, reading in full, "Sir, You have here the autograph requested in your note…Wm. C. Bryant." Very good condition.
