Abraham Lincoln magic lantern slide, picturing a young Abraham Lincoln, taken in 1846 or 1847 by Nicholas H. Shepherd shortly after Lincoln was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives; it's the earliest known portrait of Lincoln, with its original quarter-plate daguerreotype residing in the Library of Congress. Glass slide measures 4'' x 3.25'', including casing. Paper label on side reads ''Private Collection of George S. Paine''. Very good condition.
