Abraham Lincoln document signed ''Abraham Lincoln'' as President. Dated 8 March 1862, it appoints Nathaniel K. Sargent to Collector of the Customs for the District of Kennebunk in Maine. Countersigned by Salmon P. Chase, Secretary of the Treasury. Partially-printed 1pp. document features Lincoln's name printed in an arc over an eagle motif and ''President of the United States of America''. An embossed Treasury seal is present at left. Measures 18.5'' x 15''. Toning and creasing with a few spots of foxing. Separation to the first inch of the vertical fold, and pinholes to fold intersections near the right edge. Tape to verso reinforces document at fold intersections. In very good condition.
