Autograph letter signed by Russian novelist Ivan Turgenev, considered one of the great novelists and short story writers of the 19th century. A rare letter by the author, Turgenev writes to French socialite Valentine Delessert, clearly worried about her. Dated 10 September 1870 from Baden, Germany, letter in French reads in full,

''Dear Madam, I beg you very insistently to write me at least a single word, because I am quite worried: are you still in Paris? Send me news of yourself. If you leave Paris, where do you plan to go? What times we are living in! And all yours, what are they doing and what are they planning to do? I remain in Baden indefinitely. I hope that this letter is still able to reach you. / I grip your hands with all the force of my unwavering affection. Write me a few words while it is still possible. / Completely yours, I. Turgenev''. Single page letter on his custom stationery with raised ''IT'' initials. Measures 5.125'' x 8.125''. Shallow folds, overall in near fine condition. With full translation.
