Hunter S. Thompson typed letter signed, composed on custom stationery for "Owl Farm", Thompson's ranch in Woody Creek, Colorado. Dated 3 April 1967, Thompson writes to his childhood friend Paul Semonin, noting how he's treated differently by the local moneyed class with the publication of "Hell's Angels". With additional autograph notes, Thompson writes, "Dear Fuzzy -- What in hell is happening to your mind? How Can I possibly provide you & your spouse, the Cookes and the Blackburns a rent-free place to live when I'm in the process of being evicted myself?…Besides that, you are no longer dealing in the pack-on-the-back and pallet-on-the-floor league. Almost, but not quite, like me. Not more showers in the RBYC locker room. it's a tougher game these days. Anyway, your cards are driving me nuts…It's been made very clear to me recently that this is not a friendly community to those who can't pay. And now the same money-grubbing swing call me 'Hunter' and offer me credit -- although I don't have any more $$ now than I did before. Which is neither here nor there…As for other possibilities, most of the heads and other low-rent types are leaving town for the off-season and maybe the summer, so now is a good time to find homes. At least that's why they say. I haven't been doing too well. It's an ugly game. So let me know quick what you have in mind. Details. Facts. Dates. Durations.
