Hunter S. Thompson postcard signed "HST" in type, written from Big Sur on 15 November 1960 shortly before he secured the caretaker job at the property now known as the Esalen Institute. Written to his friend Paul Semonin, letter reads in part, "No good word from here…long-term plans remain vague & threatening. Sandy's arrival may be the final straw. Crotch full of infected poison oak has put me on the brink, and one more jolt will do me…I am on the verge of losing my grip. Explain yourself. Cheers, HST". Postcard measures 5.5" x 3.25", postmarked 15 November 1960 with Thompson's handwritten address correction. Very good plus condition.
