WWII Iwo Jima hero Rene Gagnon envelope signed, postmarked 28 June 1943 from Parris Island, South Carolina where he was training as a Marine. Addressed to his girlfriend, Pauline Harnois. Signed with his full name and camp address, ''Pvt. R.H. Gagnon U.S.M.C. / Plt. 382 M.B. / Parris Island S.C.'' Measures 7.25'' x 4''. Cutely, he writes, ''S.W.A.S.K'' (sealed with a sweet (?) kiss) to verso. Some toning and creasing to corners, overall very good.
