Rene Gagnon WWII autograph letter signed, dated 1 July 1943. From Parris Island, South Carolina, Gagnon writes on U.S. Marines stationery: ''...I'm going straight to town and mail this letter even if it is a three mile walk. After all the marching we do around here I guess that doesn't seem like much to me now...if I am stationed somewhere outside the U.S...like Cuba, or New Zealand, or England, it will not be combat duty, but all I'll be allowed is 15 days furlough a year...I'll only see you once a year. Let's hope I stay in the U.S....Rene''. 2pp. letter measures 6.75'' x 10.5''. Accompanied by mailing envelope handwritten and signed by Gagnon as a P.F.C. Some discoloring on edges, else near fine.
