Peanuts Sunday Strip From 1953 Also to be Auctioned
LOS ANGELES, July 17, 2017 – One of the most famous Prince Valiant comic strips by Hal Foster will be auctioned at Nate D. Sanders Auctions on Thursday, July 27, 2017. In this strip published May 28, 1939, Prince Valiant approaches Andelkrag Castle, showcasing the Castle in its own panel measuring 17” x 21”. The entire artwork measures 26” x 34.5”.
This panel of Andelkrag Castle is often used to demonstrate Foster’s superb technique from the early years of the strip, and appears on the cover of Prince Valiant Vol. 2: 1939-1940, as well as in numerous other publications referencing Hal Foster’s Prince Valiant artwork.

The July 27, 2017 auction also features an early Sunday Peanuts comic strip by Charles Schulz, dated June 21, 1953.
