Super Bowl trophy auction

When John Matuszak’s sister called me and then three-time Dallas Cowboys champion, the now deceased, Godfrey Myles, called me to sell their Super Bowl trophy in my Super Bowl trophy auction, I thought that we might do okay.  Little did I realize that the Matuszak family did great, but Godfrey Myles Super Bowl trophies sold for a fortune — almost $50,000 for all three.  Please see below for all of the Super Bowl trophy auction events I have had and their prices realized:

Vince Lombardi Super Bowl XXX Trophy — Exceedingly Rare Trophy Was Made for Players of Only a Few Super Bowl Winning Teams — Given to Cowboys Linebacker Godfrey Myles

Stunning, impressive Vince Lombardi Super Bowl trophy from Super Bowl XXX, won by the Dallas Cowboys in 1996 and given to Coyboys linebacker Godfrey Myles. An almost exact replica of the Vince Lombardi trophy manufactured by Tiffany’s and presented to the winning Super Bowl team, this silver-plated trophy was ordered by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for his players. Since only a few owners have purchased these trophies, beginning with Al Davis of the Oakland Raiders in 1977, they remain notoriously scarce and desirable, with only a handful coming to auction in the past 30 years. Trophy measures approximately 15.5″ high and 7″ deep and weighs 6.0 lbs. Upon the front is engraved, “Vince Lombardi Trophy / Super Bowl / XXX / Champions / The Dallas Cowboys” and, along the side column, “Godfrey Myles / 98”. Good condition with minor chipping. A stunning display of athletic achievement, from the team that sets the record for most Super Bowl appearances. With Certificate of Authenticity from Godfrey Myles.  Sold for $17,400.

John Matuszak’s Vince Lombardi Super Bowl XI Trophy — Exceedingly Rare Trophy Made for Players of Only a Few Super Bowl Winning Teams

Vince Lombardi Super Bowl XI trophy given to defensive lineman John Matuszak of the Oakland Raiders, for their first Super Bowl win in 1977 against the Minnesota Vikings. Silver-plated trophy was ordered by Raiders owner Al Davis for each of his players, the first time Vince Lombardi replica trophies had been given to individual team members. A small handful of owners have since followed Davis’ example, making these player trophies exceedingly rare, even more so one owned by standout player John Matuszak. This trophy made by R.S. Owens & Co. is the three-quartered size version of the Tiffany made Vince Lombardi trophy (the larger of the two), and measures 18″ tall, situated on a triangular base measuring about 9″ on each side. Engraved upon the column reads, “Vince Lombardi Trophy / [NFL logo] / Super Bowl XI / AFC vs NFC”. Upon the base is an engraved silver plate which reads, “The Oakland Raiders / World Champions / John Matuszak / Oakland 32 – Minnesota 14 / January 9, 1977”. In very good condition with only some cleaning needed to the silver plating. Trophy accompanied by certificate of authenticity by Matuszak’s sister. An impressive tribute to John Matuszak and the Oakland Raiders.  Sold for $9,975.
