Van Heflin’s Best Supporting Actor Oscar For His Performance in ”Johnny Eager”

Oscar statue presented at the 15th Academy Awards in 1943 to Van Heflin, the year’s Best Supporting Actor. Heflin stars in ”Johnny Eager” as Jeff Hartnett, the alcoholic best friend of Robert Taylor’s unscrupulous character. Heflin in the noir picture beat out fellow nominees Frank Morgan in ”Tortilla Flat”, William Bendix in ”Wake Island”, Walter Huston in ”Yankee Doodle Dandy” and Henry Travers in ”Mrs. Miniver”. The iconic figure of Oscar stands on a film reel holding a sword, measuring 10.25” from the base of the reel to the top of the head. Height including base is 13.25”. Base underside is covered in felt backing. Diameter measures 5.25” and statue weighs 6 lbs., 1 oz. Rubbing to gold-plating revealing copper beneath, chipping to the black lacquer on the base and a small area of rubbing to the engraved plaque. Academy Award is in very good condition.

Lewis Hamilton Signed McLaren-Mercedes Racesuit Worn in The 2007 German Grand Prix — With a COA from McLaren Racing

Lewis Hamilton worn McLaren-Mercedes racesuit from the 2007 German Grand Prix, signed in black felt tip on the left of the front Vodafone logo. Inscription reads: ”To Anthony, Best Wishes / ’08”. In 2008 Hamilton became Formula 1 World Champion. Nomex suit by Sparco features a maker’s label marked, ”LH-013-07-D”. White one-piece racesuit is adorned with sponsor logo patches and FIA accreditation. Near fine. With a McLaren Racing COA.

From George Best’s Ex-Wife:

George Best Faberge Personally Owned Soccer Trophy

Created by Sarah Faberge, limited edition number 3 of only 68 produced, the finial is formed as a Shamrock and created in sterling silver and gilt. The egg is spun in solid sterling, hand engine turned and guilloche enamelled in red. The copy European Cup medal stands to the front, recording George Bests part in Manchester Uniteds greatest European achievement. to the reverse, the football League Champions badge. The sides of the egg with the official crest of Manchester United in 1968 and from the same year the Northern Ireland crest. The lower half of the egg is decorated with the famous Faberge swags interspersed with ornamental silver on gilt footballs, modelled after the footballs of the 60’s. The foot is hand engine turned in sterling silver on gilt. The inside on a field of gold on silver, George Best is presented poised to press forward in match action, a diamond studded football lies at his feet. Sarah Faberges mark stamped alongside the hallmark. The lot includes certificate of authenticity from Faberge, a display case and storage case, all in the original boxes. Consigned by George’s former wife Alex.

Exceptionally Rare John Lennon Personally Owned & Played Musical Instrument — Reed Organ Made of Walnut in Dark Finish — With Provenance From Sotheby’s

Coveted instrument personally owned and played by music legend and 1960’s cultural icon John Lennon. Mason & Hamlin brand reed organ, or pump organ, was built circa 1880-90. Mason & Hamlin was one of the top organ manufacturers in the 19th and 20th centuries. The company’s origins are deeply rooted in music, with the initial financing provided by major music publishing house founder Oliver Ditson and by Lowell Mason, prolific composer of classic hymns. Organ features ten stops and is made of walnut wood with a dark cherry finish. Accompanied by a slip inscribed, “Love to Julie / From John Lennon / xxxx” in red ink. Organ measures 44″ x 47″. Rubber lining on pedals has been replaced. Near fine. A Steinway brand piano of Lennon’s sold at Sotheby’s in 2000 for $2.1 million. Replaced rubber on the foot pedals, else near fine. With provenance from Sotheby’s including original catalog and house-issued certificate of ownership signed by Yoko Ono.

Official Academy Award Nomination For the 1963 Blockbuster, ”Cleopatra”

Academy Award nomination certificate for the famous 1963 blockbuster that famously brought Richard Burton and Liz Taylor together, ”Cleopatra”. Certificate plaque for the 36th annual Oscars nominates acclaimed film editor Dorothy Spencer for Outstanding Achievement in the category of film editing. Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, the film was famously one of the most expensive productions in Hollywood history. Certificate features an illustration of the iconic Oscar statue and reads in full: ”Certificate / of / Nomination / for / Award / Be it known that / Dorothy Spencer / was nominated for an / Academy Award of Merit / for Outstanding Achievement / Film Editing / ‘Cleopatra’ / This judgment being rendered with reference to Motion Pictures / first regularly exhibited in the Los Angeles district / during the year ending December 31, 1963.” Signed by the Academy President, President Arthur Freed and Secretary Hal Elias. Certificate has been inlaid in a wooden plaque with gilt trim to an overall size of 12” x 13.75”. Foxing and some toning, else near fine.

Bruce Lee’s Personally Owned & Worn 3” Platform Shoes

Bruce Lee personally owned and worn shoes. Pair of leather lace-up shoes in brown, tan and cream feature a 0.75” platform under the front of the foot and a 3.25” heel. Shoes are an approximate men’s size 6.5. Scuffing, especially to right toe and rust to lace grommets; laces need replacement and some scattered cracking to leather, else near fine. Lee’s widow distributed his shoes between the two men closest to Lee who were most similar in shoe size – his brother and his close friend Herb Jackson, well-documented as a first generation Jeet Kune Do student and maker of Lee’s custom martial arts training equipment. With a COA from Jackson’s son.
