As a bonafide legend by the age of 25, it’s no wonder The King of Rock n’ Roll quickly learned a thing or two about living the good life. From his embellished sense of style, to his imaginative shangri-la at Graceland, Elvis Presley maintained a sense of child-like wonder and imagination documented thoroughly throughout the evolution of his epic career.

We’re big fans of the King at Nate D. Sanders and have auctioned various Elvis Presley memorabilia items in the last year that speak to his musical fame, of course, but also to the man in his life offstage.

We sold:

The very best piece of Elvis Presley memorabilia we have sold is an original Elvis Presley Golden Globe.  It is extremely unusual that a piece of  Elvis Presley memorabilia of this significance is not at Graceland.

It is an original Golden Globe award for “Elvis on Tour”, Elvis’ final film, shot in 1972. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association presented this award for Best Documentary Film at the 1973 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The MGM film was a musical documentary directed by Robert Abel and Pierre Adidge. It provided a behind-the-scenes perspective on Elvis on a 15-city U.S. tour, as well as footage from his legendary live performances.   It sold for $10,000.

As mentioned in our  blog about celebrity watches, we sold Elvis Presley’s personally owned customized gold watch for $8,000.

The King loved his gold embellishments and adorned himself in all kinds of glitzy bedazzles over the years. This Mathey Tissot watch was  custom-made by Memphis Jeweler Harry Levitch in 1971. It has ”ELVIS PRESLEY” engraved in raised circular letters studded with four small stars around the bezel.

The watch was given by Presley to Alan Fortas in the early 1970s and includes a copy of an LOA from Fortas, as the two became friends in Graceland in the 1950′s and Fortas worked for Presley for most of his career as one of the prominent ”Memphis Mafia.”

The King was big on customizing his goodies, and here adds initials ”EP” and a lightning bolt design, both in gilt, appear on each side of the receiver. Both sides of the stock have also been personalized with a lightning bolt and his motto, ”TCB” for ”Taking Care of Business”.
