Baltimore's ''The Afro-American'' newspaper from 26 December 1936, filled with stories of interest to the black community. Paper runs approximately 24pp., with extensive coverage of boxer Joe Louis on the Sports page, an advertisement entitled ''The Depression Is Over'', and news of a longshoremen strike where African-American members played a pivotal role. An impressive woman who passed the New York bar is also featured. Stories on the NAACP are also covered, as is the activity of the Ku Klux Klan, with an ad for a movie featuring the Klan entitled ''Legion of Terror''. Paper measures 17'' x 23.5''. Chipping to brittle pages, and some pages detached from spine. Overall in good condition.
