Charles' Dickens first edition, first printing of ''David Copperfield'', the author's favorite of his books. London: Bradbury & Evans, 1850. This copy shows all of the first printing points including the earliest and most rare: ''screamed'' instead of ''screwed'' on p. 132. Also includes the full suite of 40 plates by H.K. ''Phiz'' Browne. Measures 5.75'' x 8.5''. Bound in one-quarter tan calf over marbled boards, with raised bands to the spine decorated in gilt. Light wear to boards, some internal toning and discoloration, possibly from light dampstaining; overall very good condition.
