Souvenir medallion to commemorate the ''First Showing'' of ''Cleopatra in Hollywood on 18 June 1963, given to the movie's cinematographer Leon Shamroy. The Hollywood premiere was likely the most sought after ticket in town, as ''Cleopatra'' was the most expensive film ever made at that time, and the highest grossing of 1963. It would go on to win four Academy Awards. Medallion has images of Cleopatra and Antony on the front, surrounded by Egyptian characters, with the verso reading ''Attended First Showing of Cleopatra Hollywood June 18, 1963''. Medallion measures 1.25'' in diameter, housed in suede pouch. Very good condition.
