''Boy Scout'' mechanical bank, circa 1911 when it was patented by J & E. Stevens & Co., who decided to make the bank to coincide with the launch of Boy Scouts of America a year earlier. Designed by Charles Bailey, the Boy Scout bank was made in limited quantities, as the trend of mechanical banks had already peaked; the Boy Scout bank is consequently one of the rarer styles of mechanical banks. Clever bank works by placing a coin in the slot, located in the foliage of the tree on top of the tent. The lever, located underneath the owl, is then pressed, causing the coin to drop into the bank and the scout to raise his flag reading ''Boy Scout Camp'' over his head. Measures 9.875'' long, 6'' tall and 3.5'' wide. Paint retains bright colors with excellent patina, overall in very good, working condition.
