In this handwritten signed recollection, William Shatner reflects on Captain Kirk aging on celluloid, and the joy he had in playing him over the course of his life. Composed on his personal stationery, he writes: ''When the series was over, some years later we began to make movies - and to accomodate [sic] the passage of time we began to play with how to age our intrepid captain - glasses, a little white on the side burns a little more time to fall for the ladies not as impetously [sic] as young Kirk. This was fun - this was taking into account not only imagining a compelling story but a multi faceted character - his step a little slow, a decision made with a little more deliberation - we made several movies, and by the way every time we finished a movie everybody thought that was the end, there would be no more - and I would gather myself and reluctantly put aside any more ideas of how to subtly indicate an aging Kirk. They would burn the sets, no need to spend the money to store them. Get rid of the costumes - Oh to have known better - all taken with the idea that that movie was the last. But it was not to be - we endured. Capt. Kirk kept getting older but not so old he couldn't love and fight - fight for love and love to fight all part of the character. / William Shatner.'' Single page measures 7.25'' x 10.25''. Near fine condition. Also with an LOA by William Shatner.
