Rene Gagnon WWII autograph letter signed as a Private First Class in the U.S. Marine Corps. On Marines stationery, Gagnon writes to his girlfriend Pauline Harnois on 2 January 1944 from his military training at the Naval Prison Camp in Charleston, South Carolina, ''...Well here we are with the holidays all over, and only a couple of weeks away from furlough time, gee it will be good to see you and the old town again, before I left, I always wanted to get out of the mill but believe it or not, I actually miss it, when I go home on furlough theres one thing I want to do that is to try to doff a little...'' Gagnon worked in a textile mill as a doffer. Accompanied by the hand-addressed mailing envelope signed by Gagnon. Letter runs 2pp. in pencil on a single sheet, measuring 7'' x 10.5''. Toning and an ink notation to the upper right, else near fine.
