Stan Laurel typed letter signed, with his full signature ''Stan Laurel''. Dated 7 November 1961 on Oceana Apartment Hotel stationery, Laurel writes to his pen-pal friend Bill Brown regarding Jean Harlow, Charlie Chaplin, the book ''Mr Laurel & Mr Hardy'', several Laurel & Hardy films, and much more. Letter reads in part, ''...about the terrible fire situation here in Los Angeles, over 250 expensive home burned to the round to date, the fire is still raging...We can see the flames quite clearly from the hotel room here in the evenings, a frightening sight...Note you saw the French version of our old film 'Jitterbugs' I've seen several of these foreign language versions...this dubbing system is very interesting...Yes, 'March of the Wooden Soldiers' was originally 'Babes in Toyland'...The animated cartoon series will be in Color & scheduled for release in Sept. '62...I know Charlie Chaplin very well - came to this Country with him in I9I0 in a show called Fred Karno's London Comedians in 'A Night in a London Music Hall', we played one week in Winnipeg in I9II, at the old Dominion Theatre...We came over in I9I0 on a cattle boat ('The S.S. Cairnrona') landed in Quebec & boarded train for New York City. / Our book 'MR LAUREL & MR HARDY' describes all this information. / Jean Harlow made her first appearance on the screen with L&H in a short comedy, titled 'Double Whoopee'...[signed] Stan Laurel''. Two-page letter on two sheets measures 5.5'' x 8.5''. Folds, else near fine. With original mailing envelope.
