United States flag flown in space on NASA's STS-1 mission, the first of NASA's Space Shuttle program. Flag measures 5.75'' x 4'' and comes affixed to official NASA certificate featuring color photos of Columbia, mission insignia and a printed dedication to Arthur J. Carraway which begins: ''This flag was flown aboard Space Shuttle 'Columbia' (STS-1) April 12-14, 1981.'' Measures 8.5'' x 11'' overall. Light toning to certificate, small bit of discoloration to upper left and show-through from adhesive to flag. Very good condition.
