Simon Bolivar document signed, written on ''Supreme Chief of the Republic, Captain-General of the Armies of Venezuela and New Granada'' letterhead. Bolivar led a broad spirited independence movement in South America, establishing and becoming President of what was then known as Gran Colombia, a territory consisting of present day Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Venezuela, and the northern portions of Peru and Brazil. Bolivar signs his name with a flourish, signing ''Bolivar'' above a large paraph. Document authorizes the sale of two mules, with verso listing fabrics and fineries purchased. Measures 5'' x 8''. Toning, foxing and small pinholes to left margin. Very good condition.
