First National Bank of Hartford check is dated 2 July 1875 and made out entirely in Clemens' hand to ''Caswell Bros'' in the amount of $78.69. Endorsed on verso by Caswell. Partially printed check on pale lavender paper measures 7.75'' x 3''. Trimming to bottom edge evident on the left and some light staining to lower right, else near fine.
