Sam Houston signed land grant as Governor of Tennessee, dated 26 August 1828 in large script, with signature measuring nearly 5'' x 2''. Houston here grants 75 acres of land in Lincoln County to an Andrew J. Davis, complete with red wax-based paper seal for the state of Tennessee. Document measures 12'' x 15''. Foxing, toning and partial separation along folds, some repaired with archival tape on verso. Overall in good condition, with no loss of paper, and an excellent, pronounced signature by Houston.
