Ronald Reagan typed story signed with his autograph inscription and hand corrections. Story served as Reagan's contribution to London ''Star'' entertainment editor Ivy Crane Wilson's famous red annual ''Hollywood Album'', published by Sampson, Low Marston & Co. Ltd. No year is indicated, but the periodical was published in thirteen editions, from 1947 through 1960 and the piece covers Reagan's experience on location filming ''Cattle Queen of Montana'', his 1954 western opposite Barbara Stanwyck, so likely this appeared in Ivy's 1954 or 1955 book. Piece is titled, ''The Bear Who Wasn't There'' and is labeled, ''Written exclusively for Ivy Wilson's Hollywood Album''. Reagan signs, ''Ronald Reagan'' in pencil to a line on the top margin of the first page Ok-ing the story, which was apparently ghostwritten on his behalf. He adds a note in his hand in pencil, ''Made one slight change on Page 7 otherwise I'm very happy''. On page 7, he changes a sentence that reads, ''...watching the chrome faucet frost with the hot water coming through...'' to ''...watching the chrome faucet frost when the water started coming through...'' The story reads in part, ''Many pictures are made on location...They rented us the [horses] they would not consider riding. In one scene I was riding a jaded, footsore beast...Barbara, much to everyone's surprise, dived in [an icy lake] and did the scene herself - which will be used in the picture. She just didn't want the [local stunt double] to lose the job...one of the prime requisites of any queen would be noblesse oblige, and Barbara certainly qualifies.'' Typed story runs 7pp. on 7 separate sheets, stapled together at upper left. Accompanied by eight vintage promotional photos from the film. Near fine.
