Academy Awards Bulova vintage 1952 timepiece housed in its original case. Watch-maker Bulova forged a licensing agreement with The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, resulting in production of the Oscar line of wristwatches. ZZ model watch is one of approximately 40 different models sold during the four or so year term of the licensing deal. With Bulova dating code of ''L2'', indicating 1952 as the year of manufacture. Watch features a 10k gold filled tooth-ribbed bezel, with silver sand dial and quartered crystal. Features a 21 jewel movement, 1947 7AK Bulova. Bracelet by Speidel is expandable. Bezel measures 1.5'' x 0.75''. Chipping to lower right corner of crystal, else near fine. Housed in its original case. Delightful watch case in art deco style features a semicircular shape and lid made as an intricate theatre curtain in gilt with Oscar statue taking center stage, all under a lucite shell. Lid closes on a cream plastic base with Bulova brand name at center under Oscar. Case opens to a lining of fuscia velour. Case measures 5.75'' x 3'' x 1.75''. Small flaw to the lid under the lucite, else near fine.
