Beautiful cigarette case gifted to a friend by future King Edward VIII, while he served as Prince of Wales. Sterling silver case was gifted to a John Montgomery Lawrence in 1913, while the two were colleagues at Magdalen College in Oxford. Flat cigarette case is slightly curved at its edges, allowing it to fit into an inside coat pocket comfortably, and features a small blue button, which opens the case swiftly when pressed. Inside of the case is plated in gold and features an engraved handwritten note from the Prince of Wales: ''Jack Lawrence / from E. / Xmas 1913''. A gold cloth strap allows cigarettes to be held in place inside the case. Measures 3.5'' x 3.25'', and approximately .25'' thick. Very slight discoloration to the silver patina. Near fine.
