Neil Armstrong signed photo mat of the first footsteps on the moon. Armstrong writes ''Apollo 11'' next to his signature, and personally inscribes the mat, ''To Ed Thompson - With thanks for making the steps up to this one a little more pleasant than they might have been. - Neil Armstrong''. The recipient, Edward K. Thompson was the managing editor of ''Life'' magazine during the time of the moon landing, and then subsequently the founding editor of ''Smithsonian'' magazine. Matte photo measures 10.75'' x 13.75'' and mat measures 16'' x 20''. Mild bumping to corners, and light uniform toning to mat, otherwise near fine condition.
