Lot of two photos taken by David F. Barry, the western photographer who distinguished himself by his photos of the Lakota people, even earning the nickname ''Little Shadow Catcher'' by the tribe. First photo, circa early 1880s, is a portrait of Barry with Chief Rain-in-the-Face, a Lakota warrior who fought in the Battle of Little Bighorn, rumored to have killed George A. Custer. Silver gelatin photo measures 6.25'' x 8.375''. Affixed to black construction paper, on the verso of which is the second photo, a haunting image of the gravesite of the Chief's son Koska, measuring 6.375'' x 8.375''. Silvering to edges, overall near fine condition.
