Extremely rare Molly Maguires execution pass. Dated Bloomsburg, 25 March 1878, the pass admits Doctor C.L. Frey to the execution of Patrick Hester, Patrick Tully and Peter McHugh. The three members of the Molly Maguires were convicted of murdering settler Alexander Rea, though prosecution was largely fueled by business interests antithetical to the Molly Maguires. The Mollies were a secret society of mostly Irish-American coal miners in Pennsylvania whose conflict with railroad tycoon and labor union foe Franklin B. Gowen reached mythical proportions. Pass measures 4'' x 2.5''. Toning, else near fine.
