Emmy Award for ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer'' presented to makeup artist Mark Shostrom in the category of Outstanding Makeup for a Series. The nominated episodes, ''Surprise/Innocence,'' aired during the second season of ''Buffy'' in 1997-1998. The episode ''Innocence'' was the highest-rated of the entire series, which despite its enormous success, won just one other Emmy during its seven-season run. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' iconic statue of a winged woman on tiptoe, holding an atom, is intended to symbolize television's convergence of science and art. Statue is made of gold-plated metal on a metal base. The front of the base reads: ''1997-1998 Primetime Emmy Awards / Outstanding Makeup for a Series / Buffy the Vampire Slayer / 'Surprise/Innocence' / WB / Mark Shostrom, Makeup Artist''. Measures 15.5'' in total height, with a 7.5'' diameter base. Weighs 4 lbs., 11 oz. A few tiny nicks to the finish on the figure's dress, else fine.
