Branch Rickey typed letter signed, dated 25 January 1949, on Brooklyn Dodgers letterhead, to Cal Abrams. Rickey, Dodgers president, notifies Abrams of his ''contract with the Brooklyn Baseball Club for the 1949 season''. He signs, ''Branch Rickey''. The outfielder's salary was $750 a week, with a $5,000 bonus if he was ''an active member of the Brooklyn Club on May 15th''. Abrams was transferred to the Texas league on 13 May. 7.75'' x 11'' single page letter is in near fine condition.
