Ludwig Bemelmans signs a first edition of ''The Castle No. 9.'' New York: The Viking Press: 1937. The author and illustrator of the story about Bemelmans' home country of Austria signs upon the verso of the copyright page, ''le 20 Novembre 1958 / un petit cadeau de Stevie pour Marc Antoine''. He often signed books for Marc Antoine, his godson. Light toning to pages of the 7.5'' x 10'' book bound in green cloth. Small tear to copyright page. Minor soiling and paper loss to price clipped dustjacket. Overall in very good condition.
