Ludwig Bemelmans signed first edition of ''The High World.'' Harper & Brothers: New York: 1954. The acclaimed author of the ''Madeline'' books inscribes the fly-leaf to his nephew Marc Antoine in French. Original unclipped dustjacket is included. Bemelmans' tale of a family whose simple life in the mountains is disrupted comes bound in terra cotta cloth boards with blue and white printed titles. Features pictorial endpapers and illustrations throughout. Measures 6.75'' x 9.25''. Sunning to the backstrip and some fading to boards. Very good. Foxing to dustjacket and some chipping to its edges. Very good.
