Outstanding photo signed by all seven Mercury astronauts, posed here with the Navy Frogmen tasked with recovery operations during splashdowns. The astronauts all sign in black fountain pen under their image, without inscription: Walter M. Schirra Jr., Leroy G. Cooper Jr., Alan B. Shepard Jr., Virgil I Grissom, John H. Glenn Jr., M. Scott Carpenter and Donald K. Slayton. One unidentified individual also signs. Photo has printed caption to verso, ''Underwater Demolition Unit Two / Amphibious Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet / Care of Fleet Post Office, New York, New York / Released''. Called Frogmen, the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) were the precursor to the Navy Seals program. Glossy photo measures 10'' x 8''. Light creasing, edgewear, and pinholes to margin.
