Abraham Lincoln magic lantern slide, picturing Abraham Lincoln on 3 June 1860 after earning the nomination for President a few weeks prior. Of this photograph taken by Alexander Hesler, Lincoln's law partner William Herndon said of it: ''There is the peculiar curve of the lower lip, the lone mole on the right cheek, and a pose of the head so essentially Lincolnian; no other artist has ever caught it.'' Glass slide is from the New York State Education Department, reproduced from the negative owned by Frederick Meserve. Slide measures 4'' x 3.25''. In very good condition with excellent photographic quality.
