Hunter S. Thompson letter, dated 30 November, composed on a postcard postmarked 1965. Thompson writes to his friend Paul Semonin about an article ''Playboy'' magazine rejected, leaving Thompson broke. Letter reads in part, ''The red flags are up, here. Playboy bounced and left me so far out on the fiscal limb that I can already feel the wind rushing past my face when I look down. I have been putting off every conceivable payment and debt, thinking to settle them all at once...but my fink called this morning, full of apologies and saying 'Hefner himself' had vetoed the piece because it would look like they were getting their ideas from the SEPost. If that was the truth then I'll have no luck selling it elsewhere, because they all think alike. The moral of this postcard is that I require funds at once. Is your big money due anytime soon? Let me know if and when I can count on it. My personal horizon is naked. Yours in fear -- Moberg'', with Thompson underlining his sign-off in red pen, and also handwriting Semonin's address panel on verso. Measures 5.5'' x 3.25''. Light wear, in very good condition.
