Rare Abraham Lincoln sculpture in bas-relief by Victor David Brenner, the 1907 artwork used as the basis for the 1909 Lincoln penny. Original bronze plaque shows Lincoln in profile with ''Abraham Lincoln / **1809*1865**'' underneath. Along the right is the foundry cartouche with the sculptor's name and copyright, ''Copyright 1907 by V.D. Brenner''. On verso are three threaded mounting holes. Plaque weighs approximately 2 lbs, 12 oz. and measures 7'' x 9.5''. Very good to near fine condition. This bas-relief sculpture of Lincoln is much more rare than a similar sculpture of Theodore Roosevelt.
