Nuremberg trials pass, issued 12 October 1946, authorizing United States Lt. Colonel Emory A. Mead to enter the Palace of Justice, where the 12 Nuremberg Military Tribunal trials took place, beginning with the ''Doctors' Trial'' on 9 December 1946. Mead was a member of the 6850th Internal Security Detachment, assigned to guard the war criminals at Nuremberg; he signs the pass and his photo appears at upper right. Pass is issued by the International Military Tribunal, the court which prosecuted the most notorious Nazis in the first Nuremberg trial that ended 1 October 1946. Pass is stamped VOID, likely replaced with Mead's second pass issued by the Office of Chief of Counsel for War Crimes. Pass measures 4.25'' x 2.75''. Very good condition.
