WWII Fleet Admiral William Halsey autograph letter signed, composed on ''Easter Sunday''. Upon stationery embossed ''Halekulani'', Halsey writes, ''Dear Mr. Ward, I am informed the grateful citizens of Chicago are giving you a testimonial dinner in recognition of the splendid services in rendering aid to the poor + luckless. I can think of nothing finer for a citizen to perform for his fellow men. May I add my humble word of praise + say 'Good Cheer' + 'Well Done'. An expression from this charming spot I believe to be appropriate, 'Aloha Nui'. Cordially yours - W.F. Halsey - Fleet Admiral-U.S. Navy-(ret).'' Single page letter measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Creasing and one sentence crossed out in pencil, otherwise near fine.
