Signed and inscribed to front fly-leaf, ''To Ralph Tucker with best wishes, Lyndon B. Johnson''. Tucker was the Democratic Mayor of Terre Haute, Indiana. ''The Professional'' is considered a uniquely personal analysis of the President's career by a respected Washington columnist and longtime Johnson confidante. Runs 273pp. Bound in orange-red cloth boards with gilt print in original dust jacket. Measures 5.75'' x 8.5''. Clipped dust jacket has some wear, with some paper loss on spine. Book itself is near fine.
