Directors Guild of America medal awarded to Robert Stillman for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for the 1949 Academy Award winning film ''The Champion'' starring Kirk Douglas and Marilyn Maxwell. Stillman served as Assistant Director on the film alongside Mark Robson. Large bronze medal features a relief portrait of an eagle clutching a strip of celluloid. Gusts of wind are depicted in the background and ''SCREEN DIRECTORS GUILD AWARD'' appears beneath the eagle's beak. Written on the border are the words, ''FOR OUTSTANDING DIRECTORIAL ACHIEVEMENT / ROBERT STILLMAN / THE CHAMPION''. Measures 3.75'' in diameter. Comes mounted in a 7.5'' square frame. Light nicks to frame, overall in very good condition.
