''Peanuts'' comic strip, hand-drawn by Charles Schulz for publication on 7 December 1954 and featuring the fleeting character Charlotte Braun. Charlotte appeared in only 10 strips from 30 November 1954 to 1 February 1955, as her bossy behavior was unpopular with Peanuts readers, but which was eventually subsumed into Lucy's character. In fact, a letter from January 1955 by Charles Schulz regarding Charlotte's character is housed in the Library of Congress; in it, Schulz responds to a fan who asked Schulz not to use Charlotte anymore. Schulz complies, but writes that she and her friends will have ''the death of an innocent child'' on their conscience. Four panel strip has the United Feature Syndicate label on the third panel, and measures 28.5'' x 6.75''. Light toning and bits of framing tape to verso. Near fine.
