Typed letter signed by Charles Schulz on Schulz's own letterhead on 24 February 1999, pertaining to the cast of his ''Peanuts'' musical. Addressed to a fan, letter reads in full: ''Dear Ms. Downing / Thank you for your kind letter. I can understand how you were disturbed with the new cast of the musical. I could have stopped the whole production, but was convinced by the New York people that this is what they are all doing these days. It has become impossible for me to get involved in all of the activities surrounding 'Peanuts' so sometimes I just let it go. I do appreciate your opinions, however. Kindest regards / Charles M. Schulz''. Lot also includes a cardboard printer's mat for six ''Peanuts'' strips published the week of 4 December 1967. Letter measures 7.25'' x 11''. Mat measures 8.25'' x 11''. Mailing folds to letter, otherwise near fine.
