Very early ''Peanuts'' comic strip from 9 January 1954, hand-drawn and signed by Charles Schulz. Four-panel strip features Charlie Brown and Shermy standing in a field at night, looking up at the sky and using sweet children's logic to determine that an automobile's headlights were stronger than a starry sky. Shermy was one of the four original ''Peanuts'' characters and last appeared in the strip in 1969. Stamp to verso reads, ''Please return to / Mr. James Freeman / United Feature Syndicate, Inc. / 220 East 42nd Street / New York 17 / New York''. Accompanied by two photos signed by Schulz, showing him accepting a degree from Anderson College in 1960. Strip measures 28.75'' x 6.75''. Light staining and foxing to edges. Very good.
