FIFA World Cup medal from the third ever World Cup in 1938. The final was held in Paris, pitting Italy against Hungary, resulting in Italy's 4-2 victory. Medal bears the stamp of designer Abel Lafleur, who also designed the Jules Rimet Trophy. His design for the medal incorporates a figure of Nike, the winged Grecian victory goddess, standing beneath the letters "F.I.F.A." On the other side is a central rooster's head, surrounded by laurel sprig flanked text reading, "F-F-F-A [French Football Federation] / Juin / France / 1938", all under an inscription, "World's Cup". Accompanied by a vintage case, likely the original. Measures 0.75" x 1.5". Weighs 7.4 grams. Tarnishing, else near fine.
