Jaime Ortiz-Patino's silver-gilt 1997 Ryder Cup trophy. Ortiz-Patino founded the Valderrama course in Sotogrande, Spain in the 1980s. With a savvy business sense and pioneering spirit, Ortiz-Patino was able to bring the famous Ryder Cup competition to his course in 1997, marking the first time the course was held in Continental Europe. The European team won the competition and retained the Ryder Cup that year. This trophy, custom-made for Ortiz-Patino to commemorate the tournament at Valderrama in 1997, is inscribed at its base, ''Ryder Cup 1997 / Valderrama''. Trophy has a mini statue of a golfer mid-swing to top and has a ''J.B. London'' hallmark and is mounted to a wooden circular plinth to an overall size of approximately 12''.
