Darryl F. Zanuck personally owned, signed and notated script for "Stanley and Livingstone", signed "D.Z." in pencil on the front cover. Zanuck was president of 20th Century Fox when the studio produced this drama starring Spencer Tracy and Cedric Hardwicke, based on the true story of a reporter who ventures into Africa to find a missing doctor. "Final" edition of the script is dated 9 November 1937. The first two pages are filled with handwritten criticism by Zanuck that reads in part, "…get to quick point where he discovers Livingstone is alive…get him to Cairo or play the entire episode at Zanzibar…" Runs 179pp. and measures 9" x 11.5". Creasing to covers and a perforated square is absent from the first handwritten page, but might have been removed before notations were added, else near fine. From the Daryl F. Zanuck Estate.
