Bruce Lee's custom striking shield used in his proprietary martial arts method, Jeet Kune Do. Striking shield was handcrafted for Lee by his friend and student George Lee (no relation) and improved upon by another protege-turned-friend Herb Jackson, in whose possession much of Lee's training equipment was left upon his move to Hong Kong. Custom punching/kicking board was made to withstand greater impact by Lee and protect its holder better than the industry standard martial arts training equipment of the day. Cleverly designed shield began with George Lee's structure - a rectangular wooden board with curved side handles. Jackson topped the board with four one-inch-thick layers of dense foam padding, cut to form a truncated pyramid. Both sides of the board feature tubular handles of metal covered in a black rubber coating for comfort and grip. Board measures 16.25'' x 10'', with handles extending the length to 22'' across. Pad measures 5'' in total thickness. Light soiling, denting and creasing to surface from use. Near fine. Accompanied by a color snapshot of Jackson holding the shield in position and bracing for a strike. With a COA from Jackson's son. More on Lee's custom training equipment can be found on the official website of the Bruce Lee Foundation at http://bruceleefoundation.org/index.cfm/page/KNOWING-IS-NOT-ENOUGH-Interview-with-George-Lee/cdid/10669/pid/10225 .
